Anderson Center at Tower View
Anderson Center occupies the former estate of Dr. Alexander Pierce. Dr. Anderson was a first generation American of Swedish ancestry. He is famous for creating Quaker Puffed Wheat and Quaker Puffed Rice.
The tower estate is 350 acres and is on the National Register of Historic Places. On the grounds, you will find statues and outdoor pieces of artwork.
Anderson Center is a historic site dedicated to ideas and the arts. The Anderson Center provides a retreat for 2-4 weeks for artists and scholars to complete their works. The Anderson Center is an accredited member of the National Alliance of Artists Communities.
Many types of artists attend the center – writers, poets, dancers, composers, visual artists, archeologists, to name a few. The center has 20 on site artist studios, glass blowing studio, blacksmith shop, outdoor kiln, black and white equipped dark room, and a printmaking facility.
From the mid 90’s to present they have supported art and ideas. They have a 11 acre sculpture garden and a public space for relaxation.
