Moscow on the Hill
Moscow on the Hill is a well-known Russian restaurant in St. Paul. This gem of a restaurant has been around for 25+ years. Moscow on the Hill is a large spacious restaurant with a small bar. The bartender was very accommodating and took me to see their outdoor patio area. The enclosed patio has a wood fence, and you almost forget you are in a big city. They also had a stage area but she was unsure when they would have bands.
They have 19 different types of infused vodkas. Options range from pepper to tiramisu infused. The Bloody Mary’s are to die for, one of the best in the city. The bartender and patrons are more than happy to explain to you about the Russian beers that they sell.
We asked the bartender what she would recommend for an appetizer. She recommended the home-made dumplings. We ordered the Vareniki (vegetarian) dumplings. They are Ukrainian dumplings filled with potato, caramelized onions, and parmesan, garnished with sour cream and fresh dill. These dumplings will have meat lovers wanting to order a second helping.
I was impressed and felt at home in this restaurant.
