Nyes
Nyes has been around for 65+ years. The restaurant side of Nyes has closed. I was disappointed when they did. The food was always fresh, homemade, and delicious. The restaurant was on one side and the polka bar was on the other side. Their polka band is known as The World’s Most Dangerous Polka Band. The band played at First Avenue a couple of times and on the Johnny Carson show. They no longer play at Nyes.
Nyes has reopened. It is in the same location but is located on the smaller side of the building. The piano player is still there. The piano player is always entertaining. Whether there are 2 people in the bar, or it is packed, you will end up singing along. Drinks are cool and refreshing. The walls, painted with murals of the history of Nyes. Loved the murals and the respect the new owners had for the history of Nyes.
Most definitely try one of the classic or craft cocktails. They will not disappoint. Be ready to sing along with the piano player and the other customers.
